Hello and Welcome
I’m Catherine and I’m very pleased to meet you.
I’m a Hypnotherapist, Counsellor, BWRT® Practitioner and OldPain2Go® Certified Practitioner based in Lower Earley, Reading, Berkshire. That may seem like a lot of fancy words but what do they all mean? Well, in simple terms, I’ve amalgamated a big tool bag over the years so when someone comes to see me, they don’t need to know what they want to help them, they just need to know how they want to feel and I’ve got a number of ways of helping them to achieve what they want.
I haven’t always been a therapist though. I started my career as a nurse (it’s what I’d always wanted to be) and worked in a variety of areas both geographically and specialisms before I trained as a midwife. I loved both my nursing and midwifery career but the thing that I enjoyed most was supporting patients emotionally as well as in their day to day clinical care. Sadly, there was never enough time to give that side of the care that I so wanted to give so I decided to develop my skills by training in counselling and hypnotherapy. The skills I learnt helped me so much in my ‘day job’ from being able to talk though how someone was feeling to helping them to relax for a procedure or investigation (have you any idea how many people are scared of needles? Lots!)
I also started seeing clients around my shifts and gradually it felt right to leave my job after 27 years in the NHS and take that scary step to running my practice. It was definitely a step in the right direction. I love having the opportunity to work with clients and see them grow and make those amazing changes to achieve their own goals.
Catherine Evans Dip Hyp, Dip CP, Ad. Dip CP, BWRT® Practitioner, CHBP
I love learning and finding new ways of helping my clients so since qualifying with my Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills, a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and then an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy I’ve also trained further in Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT®) and OldPain2Go® both of which can offer very quick results. I really value this amazing tool bag I’ve created as it means I can ‘mix and match’ the treatment I offer to get the best combination for my clients.
I’m married and mum to two busy teenagers so when I’m not working, I’m busy with family life. I also enjoy singing in a choir and meeting up with good friends for my own bit of ‘therapy’ when I get the chance.
Just to give you peace of mind, I am committed to doing the best for my clients. I am a Professional Member of the National Hypnotherapy Society (MHS), an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (MNCS(Acc)) and a Practitioner Member of the British Brainworking Research Society and work within their Codes of Ethics. I also undertake regular Supervision and remain up to date with current practice through Continuous Professional Development.
If you’re not sure whether what you’re struggling with is something that I can help with, then please do get in touch. I’ll answer any questions as best I can and if I feel that I’m not able to help, I’ll tell you and point you in the right direction if I can.
We all encounter difficulties in life but sometimes we need some support to help us through. When you’re ready to get some help to get you to where you want to be, take that first step and get in touch.
With very best wishes

And here’s what some of my clients have said about me:
“Thanks to Catherine, I have stopped biting my nails after 30 years! I have lovely nails for the first time in my life and I am so pleased with the results.”
I visited Catherine for hypnotherapy to help with a debilitating fear of flying that I was eager not to pass onto my children. I was apprehensive and a little sceptical that she would be able to help me but I am pleased to say that since my hypnotherapy I have flown twice and can honestly say that my phobia is gone. Whilst I don’t think I will ever enjoy ‘take off’ I no longer have the overwhelming panic and fear that I had beforehand and on a recent flight to Spain I surprisingly didn’t freak out at the announcement before the flight that there was a technical problem with the plane. Catherine’s calm and reassuring approach and specifically tailored program was an eye opener for me (having previously attempted hypnotherapy with no success) and I would definitely recommend her services.
I am so pleased I found Catherine!
From the minute I met her, I felt at complete ease. She really listened and was genuine with her honesty and guidance in what service was best suited to me. From my first session to help my anxiety, grief and depression, I was actually affected more than I was aware! Suddenly I was slowly spiralling into positivity, without really realising, i had experienced the biggest mental shifts over the following weeks. I went from being very withdrawn, heavy and introverted to a lighter, happier, opportunity seeking me. I went back to my second session with news of a new job opportunity i seized out of the blue. It’s more in reflection that I can see just how amazing Catherine’s help has changed me. I can’t recommend her enough. Thank you Catherine.
