I come from a clinical background of nursing and midwifery with over 20 years of experience of working in a variety of specialities. The thing I’ve enjoyed most throughout my career is helping people with their emotional issues as well as their physical problems. I decided to train in Counselling and Psychotherapy as this area really interested me and discovered that part of my course included a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. I was very new to the concept of hypnosis at that point and like many people was slightly wary of how it could work.
Once I started to study the subject I was completely in awe of the possibilities that it held. It made such sense to me that if we feel that we can’t achieve something, there must be some greater force stopping us succeeding and the discovery of the power of the subconscious mind was amazing. I can wax lyrical for hours on my chosen subject as I’m so passionate about what you can achieve when you work with the subconscious and can rewire those old patterns into new ways of coping, behaving and even living. Sometimes we need a little help to move forward and I discovered that hypnosis can give us that push to breakthrough those barriers.

Having achieved my Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills, I went on to study for a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and then an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have seen the benefits of giving clients the opportunity to talk through their problems in a safe and confidential setting. My clients are given time to talk through how they feel and this time allows them to gain clarity and find their own answers.
I also work with Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT®) which is a new and exciting form of therapy which can provide very quick and effective results.
I am committed to doing the best for my clients. I am a Professional Member of the National Hypnotherapy Society (MHS), an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (MNCS(Acc)) and a Practitioner Member of the British Brainworking Research Society and work within their Codes of Ethics. I also undertake regular Supervision and remain up to date with current practice through Continuous Professional Development.

And here’s what some of my clients have said about me:
“Thanks to Catherine, I have stopped biting my nails after 30 years! I have lovely nails for the first time in my life and I am so pleased with the results.”
I visited Catherine for hypnotherapy to help with a debilitating fear of flying that I was eager not to pass onto my children. I was apprehensive and a little sceptical that she would be able to help me but I am pleased to say that since my hypnotherapy I have flown twice and can honestly say that my phobia is gone. Whilst I don’t think I will ever enjoy ‘take off’ I no longer have the overwhelming panic and fear that I had beforehand and on a recent flight to Spain I surprisingly didn’t freak out at the announcement before the flight that there was a technical problem with the plane. Catherine’s calm and reassuring approach and specifically tailored program was an eye opener for me (having previously attempted hypnotherapy with no success) and I would definitely recommend her services.
